In a heartwarming display of dedication and support, 𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗽𝗮, 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗟𝗣 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, has gone above and beyond to help Veeramani, a determined student from a single-parent household, secure admission in college and pursue his dream of higher education.

Veeramani, an ambitious student from GBHSS in Shoolagiri, expressed his desire to continue his education during one-to-one Career Counseling session with Pushpa.

Despite his passion for learning, Veeramani was unfamiliar with college admission procedures and sought assistance in navigating the process.

Moved by Veeramani’s enthusiasm and family background, Pushpa took it upon herself to reach out to 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿.

𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗽𝗮’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶’𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲.

Career Guidance program is a comprehensively designed 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 by India Literacy Project 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

In the heartwarming setting of Korwar village, Karnataka, the Anganwadi center recently hosted a delightful annual friendship meet and farewell program for the children turning 6, in collaboration with the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 & 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗚𝗢 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗷𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗮, 𝗩𝗶𝗷𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗮.

The day was filled with joy as the children enjoyed fun activities like dances, songs, and quizzes. To support their journey ahead, bags, notebooks, and stationery were lovingly distributed to each child, ensuring they’re equipped for their next step.

Amidst the celebrations, parents beamed with pride, witnessing their little ones complete their Anganwadi education, ready to embark on their schooling journey.

All across India, Anganwadis play a pivotal role in nurturing early childhood development by providing a nurturing environment for children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional growth.

Through structured learning activities and access to essential services, Anganwadis lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning and well-being, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.

This year, ILP organized its annual summer camp at a couple of government schools in Hyderabad, combining education with enjoyment for over 150 enthusiastic students. The camp featured a variety of engaging activities designed to promote learning in a creative way.

𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗮, 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝗵𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀, 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝘂𝗴𝘂 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀.

The summer camp was made possible by the support of numerous kind volunteers who generously shared their knowledge and skills to make learning enjoyable for the kids.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to TEA Cares Foundation for dedicating a week to leading fitness sessions, imaginative storytelling, and art workshops. Their contributions were invaluable to the success of the summer camp.

𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Getting trained on essential life skills to ensure students are trained in these at an early age which will help them navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence.
𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁: Our team continues to practice and hone their skills in digital content and learn the newer additions we make.

By investing in our staff’s development, we ensure they can effectively train school teachers. This, in turn, allows teachers to create meaningful interactions with students, fostering a love for learning!

To celebrate their 75th anniversary, Madras Institute of Technology, hosted a 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀.

This program, sponsored by ILP and Verizon, aimed to show these high schoolers why computer skills are important for the future.

The workshop kicked off with Professor K. Ravichandran, who spoke about how computer skills are valuable tools for shaping the world.

Professor Thanasekar welcomed everyone and explained the significance of C Programming – it’s like the original language that many other programming languages are based on.

Professor Vinayaka Sundaram encouraged the students to keep learning and stay curious about technology.

The workshop wasn’t just lectures!

The 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺, including Ms. R.J Arti and Ms. B. Vijayalakshmi, along with the lab staff, created a program that balanced learning C Programming with hands-on practice on computers. The students enjoyed the lab sessions and showed a real passion for coding throughout the week.

A total of 35 students from GBHSS Porur, MMA GHSS Pallavaram, GHSS Movarasampettai, and TP GHSS Puzhuthivakkam participated in the workshop.

On the last day, all the students received certificates for completing the workshop from Professor Thanasekar and Mr. A.L. Rangarajan, CEO India Literacy Project.

Mr. Rangarajan also talked about ILP’s efforts to help people all over India learn ICT skills, and his satisfaction in collaborating with MIT to offer this program to government school students in Tamil Nadu.

Thank you Madras Institute of Technology and Dr. Kalam Computing Centre team for the 5-day workshop in opening new vistas for these students and we are sure these students can now dream big and pursue a career in information technology.

We understand that some parents might feel pressured to push their children towards immediate labor opportunities to supplement family income.

𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗕𝗬 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆.

GROWBY a simple color coded methodology that sorts books according to reading levels of difficulty. For example, Green color coded books are easiest to read, followed by Red, Orange, White, Blue and finally Yellow.

The Librarians helps assess a student’s reading level and match them with the perfect color code. This way, students aren’t overwhelmed and can choose books they can actually enjoy.

So, why is reading so important for young minds?

The more they read, the stronger their brains become at things like understanding stories, remembering new words, and even spelling.

But there’s more!

Reading opens up a whole world of imagination. It’s like having multiple adventures without ever leaving the library!

The best part?

This love for reading stays with them as they grow. When students get used to reading early on, they’re more likely to become lifelong learners. They’ll be curious, ask questions, and always be up for exploring new ideas. That’s a superpower that will help them succeed in school and in life!

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀: There are so many career options out there, and our comprehensive Career Guidance Chart introduces students to new possibilities they might not have thought of before. This opens up their options and helps them find a good fit.

𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: ILP’s trained Counsellors can guide students through the process, considering things like the students’ skills, financial constraints, scholarships available etc. This helps them make a choice that’s apt for them.

𝗔𝘁 𝗜𝗟𝗣 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

The Science and Math Olympiad, an initiative led by the Department of School and Mass Education, Odisha was organized recently which aims to foster students’ aptitude in Mathematics and Science.

The program had quizzes and showcased projects by Primary and Upper Primary students. Approximately 190 children participated in the event.

Science projects featured included the Smart Plant Pot, Oxygen for Combustion, Simple Electrical Circuits with switches, the Solar System, and Water Purification.

Mathematics projects encompassed two-dimensional shapes, identifying even and odd numbers, multiplication, and more.

Prizes were awarded to the winners.

ILP’s partner NGO, UAC, empowers schools by providing them ILP science kits. This not only enhances the teaching abilities of teachers but also fosters a more engaging and effective learning environment for children. Through hands-on experiments and interactive learning experiences, students are able to deepen their understanding of science concepts.

How wonderful will it be if on the first day of school, every child is made to feel super special.

That’s exactly what happens every 2nd of April in government and government-aided schools across Odisha, as they celebrate “Prebesha Uchhaba” or the welcoming ceremony.

The schools come alive with vibrant decorations – mango leaves, balloons, and colorful rangolis create a festive atmosphere. Welcoming banners proudly hang at the entrance, setting the stage for a day full of joy.

But it’s not just about the decorations.

It’s about creating an environment where every new student feels valued and supported. Drawing competitions, spirited rallies with enrollment slogans, and heartwarming parent-teacher meetings are just a few of the activities that make this day special.

This initiative isn’t just about celebration; it’s about easing the transition for these newcomers. By boosting their self-confidence and minimizing any fears about starting school, the Prebesha Uchhaba ensures that every child feels at home in their new environment.

Underlying this beautiful ceremony is the Siksha Chetna Abhiyan, a weeklong campaign aimed at community mobilization and awareness generation. Through interventions like parental counseling, awareness rallies, and meetings of school management committees, the campaign addresses concerns and fosters a supportive educational ecosystem.
